Imported Products
LGI works with a variety of manufacturers located in overseas countries. The advantage to our clients is the cost can be substantially less. Criteria for overseas production are as follows:
Large quantity:
To take advantage of overseas production, the quantity must be sufficient to justify the shipping costs associated with importing. For some of the higher priced items, this could be as few as 500. For smaller, less expensive items, (mini calculators, bags, etc.) the quantity would need to be several thousand to hundreds of thousand.
Types of items:
Nearly all products can be produced overseas. Many custom items can be produced. All that is necessary is to provide a description and type of material to be produced.
Production Time:
To produce products overseas, clients need to be aware of the time to produce artwork, approve samples, final production and shipping. Shipping of artwork and production proof will take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. If the initial poof is not approved, it can take an additional 2 to 4 weeks to make new plates, moldings, etc. After approval of the product, it will normally take 30 to 60 days to produce the item depending on the quantity requested.
Rush Production:
Many products can be expedited with the usage of airfreight carriers.
Shipping:
Normal shipping is via sea to a port in the United States. This can take up to 30 days. Products are then shipped to the final destination via truck line. This can take up to 5 to 7 days.
Payment:
Depending on the project. Full payment or a letter of credit is required upon receipt of the order.
